Mirrors!

She gets it from her dad...

What we've been up to..

So we've been busy, sort of.

Bailey has grown so much! She is constantly giggling and finding her feet. It seems like she always has one hand in her mouth, and the other on her toes. And a few weeks ago, she got a tooth!

She is getting so big that she really wants to eat our food. She is fixated on it, so I think in the next few weeks we will get her some cereal. She can roll over from her front to her back, but only gets to her side when she's on her back. She is loving sitting up, and when she is laying down, she is in a constant crunch position because she is trying to sit up. It seems like she is always so happy.

And her sleeping habits are getting so much better! Last few nights, she has only eaten once a night, and slept for so long. For example last night I slept for about 10 hours! I slept 7 hours straight! (luckily I fell asleep reading waiting for Kyle to get home) then she ate, and I slept another 3 hours! I actually had time to dream! So since she got a tooth, we thought, oh maybe we should be brushing it, because the Dr didn't really tell us anything about it. So we got her a little toothbrush that she loves to chew on.

She's also been my buddy and we've hung out all day every day.

This is a blanket that Bailey got for Christmas. And we were tying it together.

I've been up to a few things.

I've got this neighbor that got me addicted to the Goodwill outlet center! Love it! So what happens is that when they don't sell stuff at the regular thrift store, they send it to this place, and people can buy stuff by the pound! And get some killer deals. Kyle I think dreads it when I leave with my friend to go to this place, but I always get the best stuff! Like for example one time I went to the store, I got a breadmaker, george foreman grill, humidifier, basket for my books, a sweater, cordoury the book, and a christmas tree pan all for $6. Its amazing!
So I got a shelf to go in Bailey's room and I painted it.

I got a shelf to hold the big spices in our kitchen and painted that.

And then I got another shelf that I painted, and put fabric on for our spices.

That's all that I've been up to other than I signed up for a Book of Mormon class through BYU Independent Study. I love having a reminder to read my scriptures, hopefully it makes it a habit.

Kyle really has been up to a lot! He finished his Internal Medicine rotation (thank heavens!) and started on Primary Care. This has given him more time to be home with me and Bailey. Although the commute is about 45 minutes each way, he is normally home by 4 or 4:30. But on Fridays he has the option to get off at noon, who wouldn't take that? And luckily he has weekends off so he gets to come home and we get to see him all weekend, which makes Mondays even harder. But luckily this weekend we get to go to Boston and to the temple!

Oh and happy valentines day!

Gubler trip

So Kyle and I decided like 2 weeks before (around Thanksgiving) that we should go to Utah for Christmas. He had classes until the 16th so we took off on the 17th. So much for a thesis month right? So we first went to the Gubler's house. With 8 siblings and 10 nieces and nephews, it was a full house! But we loved every minute of it. We ate, hung out with family, ate, went to see his sister's new house, and did I mention ate? His parents have an island in their kitchen that is about 15 ft long and full of food 24/7! We stayed at their house until Christmas morning. We went skeet shooting and Kyle shot most of the clay pigeons, so he let me do it, and I'll just say I'm better at shooting with a scope and rifle. We had a party when all of the siblings could be there the Saturday before Christmas. Then on Christmas eve, we did the traditional nativity scene. Bailey was the angel, I was the shepard, and Kyle was the inn keeper. We had Abby as Mary, Daxton as Joseph and a wise man, Caleb and Richard as a wise man, and needless to say it was a blast! Seeing all the little kids trying to act out the parts was fun. Christmas morning was nice, we slept in for a bit, ate yet again, and opened presents.

Christmas afternoon we were on our way up to the Pippin family's house (my mom). We went there just for that night until my dad got back from Boise. We got there, opened presents, and had a wonderful dinner. In the morning Taylor, Brook, Kyle, Bailey and I took off to Preston Id to see my dad. I have to admit this was the best house to be at. There was nowhere we needed to be, and nothing we needed to do. They had a hot tub, so after Bailey would go to sleep, we would relax and if she woke up my dad and Cindy would take care of her. We played games a lot there, and ate a lot as well. What is it with family and eating? Kyle went to the gym with my dad a couple times, and definitely worked off what he ate that morning, if you know what I mean.. There were a couple days we went down to Utah and stayed at my step-sister's house so my dad could go to his dr's appointment in SLC. We of course ended up at Cabela's. We also had dinner with Kyle's good friends Tyler, Janna, Lily, Jordan, and Jamie. It was nice to get together with them, they just moved to the mainland from Hawaii.

On the 2nd there was the Gubler extended family Christmas Party. This was my present to Kyle, a plane ticket for him to come home on the 3rd so he could go to that. That of course was a lot of eating. And just a little background information. Kyle's dad's family has 12 kids plus their kids and grandkids, so there was a ton of people there! Kyle was excited to show off Bailey and the food was delicious. Kyle flew out the next day so he could come home for his Internal Med 2 rotation. I stayed and extra week and headed out to my mom's house.

My little brother got his mission call a while back to the Houston Texas East mission. He was supposed to leave on the 13th, so we decided to stay at his house last to spend that time with him. On Monday while he was at the dr's, I headed down to the mall and got Bailey's ears pierced. Kyle had a hard time with letting me do this, but I explained that this way they won't get infected as easily because she can't grab ahold of them yet. And if she grows up and decides that she doesn't want earrings, she can take them out. But what little girl doesn't want earrings? So on Tuesday we were joined by my sister from Boise and her two adorable kids. Her husband couldn't come til Saturday because he owns the Great Harvest up there and had to run that. Then on Friday my sister from Lander, WY came down. It was fun to have everybody together, but we also realized that we all had differences and we needed to not get into fights. :) So Sunday was my little brother's farewell and Bailey cried through the whole thing. You see, I had ice cream on Saturday night and when I have dairy, it gives Bailey really painful gas so we don't have such a great time. But we got to listen from the hallway and it was a great talk. They gave him all of the meeting, so we got out 10 minutes early. Then we all left on Monday. I flew out and had two layovers and three flights. It actually went better than I thought. At first it was hard because Bailey is used to not being held when she is sleeping but when she realized that she can sleep with me holding her, it was ok. The last flight was the best because I got a whole row to myself. The flight attendents are also really nice when you are travaling alone with a baby.

We are so glad that we made it home for Christmas, and hopefully we'll be able to see our family before next Christmas.

A long time coming

So its been a really long time since I posted, and so many things have happened since.

Bailey turned 2 months old! Her Doctors appointment was last week and she did so great. She was tired and it was her nap time so luckily right after they gave her all of her shots, she cried for about 30 seconds and then fell back asleep. It helped me to know that she was ok. She gained 3 lbs since birth and weighs 10 lbs 11 oz and is in the 50th percentile for weight. Her head is still in the 10th percentile, and her height is 21 3/4 inches, in the 25th percentile. So that is the only thing it seems that she inherited from me, is my height. Other than that she is looking more and more like Kyle everyday.

Kyle finished his first month of Internal Medicine rotation and luckily it wasn't as bad as some people have said. His next rotation in Jan is the exact same at the exact same place so we are relieved that he'll be home some of the time.

We had Kyle's PA Christmas party last Saturday and I made Bailey a dress for it! She looked so adorable!! We also got to dance for the first time in like a year and we loved that. Thanks to our friends who watched Bailey as we took out the dance floor!

Bailey and I love to go on walks as well. But yesterday we got all bundled up to go out and made it about 10 feet out the door.  She loves getting all bundled up most of the time.

And yesterday was our Ward Christmas Party. They do it this early because most everyone goes home to their families for Christmas. Bailey got her first visit with Santa.

So this morning we had a 'fake' christmas because we are going to be in Utah for Christmas and we didn't want to drag some of the presents all the way to Utah and back. So I got a keyboard that has enough keys that I can play songs on it. Kyle got suprised with his flight change so he can stay in Utah for the Gubler family christmas party. And Bailey got a high chair so she can sit at the table with us while we eat. We still have 4 months before she'll be eating from it.

Happiness

This November I've thought a lot about happiness. I've learned to realize that happiness is spending time and going through journeys with the ones that you love. Since Bailey was born, we've never taken another day for granted and hope that we never will. Motherhood is the most amazing and hardest thing ever! But even if she's been screaming all day long when she gives me the gummy smile, or takes a nap for longer than an hour, it makes it all worth it. I think God created babies that they have to nap. Even the most colicky baby you will miss if they sleep for more than an hour. We love our Bai and are excited for our lives with hers. As this Thanksgiving approaches these are the things I am so thankful for..

My house for looking like this..

My hubbyThe opportunity we have to be in school right now during this economy. Yesterday as I was driving through New Haven, I saw a man digging through the trash just for bottles to get a 5 cent refund on. This normally doesn't disturb me that much, but this man wasn't raggedy and homeless looking. He looked like a middle class normal man that the economy obviously affected.

Our great friends here in New Haven that makes up our family away from our family. Without our great friends, this holiday would be a lot harder than it is. And I know that when we come to visit here in years to come, it won't be the same New Haven as we remember it because most of our family here will be gone and done with school.

And finally

need I say more?
